New Work Up

Posted on: June 5th, 2014

After the energy of the Colouring-in Competition Artisan Gallery is currently in a more contemplative mood.

Powerful large-scale charcoal drawings by Mlamuli Mkhwanazi, a young artist who is sure to make his mark are on display. These drawings would be stunning in an entrance foyer or space that needs impact.

Nhlanhla Chonco also has new works on paper suggestive African portraits in a colourful modern idiom.

The languid nudes of Hilary Iwanski have a timeless appeal and sensuality which delights the eye of the viewer with the gentle and unthreatening handling of the medium and subject matter.

Gallery Visitors
Daniela and Gilmar Signori, from Brazil, are annual visitors to Artisan Gallery, to coincide with their running of the Comrades Marathon. This year they were joined by Nato Amaral, who had been part of the Nogwaja Challenge, in which 12 people cycled from Cape Town to Pietermaritzburg in 10 days (over 1600km), and then ran the Comrades the following day.
