Wendy has had a love affair with clay for the last 35 years, starting with domestic stoneware before she moved into figurative ceramic sculpture. Beginning with a series of 50 large terracotta female nudes she enjoyed developing innovative techniques, resulting in an original and distinctive style of her own which draws on mythology, legend and a love of nature. In creating a new piece she tries not to control her inspiration, but to remain open and allow the imagery to emerge as the sculpture develops.
Wendy has exhibited extensively throughout South Africa and in January 2011 she received the Joan Emanuel Trophy. A large number of her sculptures are now in private collections worldwide.
