The name Artisan for Durban‘s most exciting art gallery was not lightly chosen.
"I wanted a name that encapsulated everything that my new gallery stood for", said Sue Greenberg, the longest established private gallery owner in South Africa‘s province of KwaZulu-Natal.
"Being an acronym for Arts in South Africa Now, Artisan was the perfect choice."
Housed in Artisan Contemporary Gallery‘s purpose-built, light-filled space is the finest representation of South African art and exquisitely executed craft. Drawing on her more than 20 years‘ experience as a gallerist and her chairmanship of the provincial branches of the Crafts Council and of the Potters Association, Sue personally scrutinizes each artist‚Äôs or crafter‘s work before deeming it fit for a place in her gallery.
